The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra to Present “Many Talents of FSO” FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Fouad Fakhouri will present “Many Talents of FSO” on Sunday, February, 12th at 3pm, in Seabrook Auditorium, Fayetteville State University.
This concert will feature guest vocalist Lishir Inbar, who studies at The Curtis Institute of Music, and soloist Dr. Don Parker of Fayetteville State University. “We are very excited to highlight such great performers, one with such a unique heritage and the other who now calls Fayetteville home,” Fouad Fakhouri, Music Director of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, said. Some of the music featured in the concert will be Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture.
Soprano Lishir Inbar is a native of Pardesia, Israel. Ms. Inbar has appeared as a soloist with the Israeli Raanana Symphonette Orchestra and the Moran Ensemble in performances worldwide, including a recording of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater for Kol Israel, Israel’s radio channel. The recipient of a number of awards and honors, she won Israel’s Sharet Scholarship and the Ronen Scholarship and was recently named the winner of the junior division in the 2005 Palm Beach Opera Competition.
Percussionist Dr. Don Parker, a native of Washington D.C., is currently Assistant Professor of Percussion at Fayetteville State University and serves as principal of his section for the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra. After completing his B.M in Performance and Music Business from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN., he completed his M.M. and a D.M.A. in Percussion Performance from the University of Texas, Austin. Dr. Parker has appeared as a guest artist in many different venues, including the Augustana College Jazz Festival, The University of Nebraska at Omaha Jazz Festival, and the Austin Jazz and Arts Festival, to name a few.
