2008-2009 Subscription Series: A Tour Around the World

 

“Fantastic French Favorites”
Soloist: Marylene Dosse , Piano
Methodist University-Reeves Auditorium - Saturday, October 25, 2008 - 8pm
                                  

Start your Tour Around the World in France with an evening of exciting music featuring our guest French soloist. Distinguished pianist Marylene Dosse will perform Beethoven's joyful Piano Concerto  No. 1 followed by a dazzling performance of the French powerful masterpiece Symphonie Fantastique composed by Hector Berlioz.

 

“Holiday Celebration”
Soloists: Dominic Mercurio , Piano, 07-08 FSO Harlan Duenow Young Artists Scholarship Winner; Lindsay Leach , Flute; Denise Murchison Payton , Soprano
Berean Baptist Church - Saturday, December 13, 2008 - 7:30 pm

Join us for a grand holiday celebration at Berean Baptist Church where the FSO will perform a bouquet of popular holiday favorites, including: the 2007-2008 Harlan Duenow Young Artists Concerto Competition Winner, Dominic Mercurio, performing Capriccio Brilliant for piano and orchestra; the traditional Christmas Sing-a-Long; and Leroy Anderson's holiday favorite Sleigh Ride.

 

“Copland, Mozart and Dvorak”
Soloists: Ines Abdel Daiem, Flute; Ken Smith , Narrator

Friday, February 20, 2009 - 8pm - Carolina Civic Center - Lumberton

Saturday, February 21, 2009 - 8pm - Fayetteville State University-Seabrook Auditorium 

Sunday, February 22, 2009 - 3pm - Kennedy Hall - Sandhills Community College - Pinehurst

Savor the sounds of America, Austria and Bohemia with the FSO at Seabrook Auditorium on the campus of Fayetteville State University for a wonderful evening of music including Mozart's famous First Flute Concerto performed by International flute soloist Ines Abdel Daim, Aaron Copland's powerful masterpiece "Lincoln Portrait" as well as Dvorak's famous Symphony No. 8.

 

“Mozart and Shostakovich”
Soloists: Howard Kim , Piano; Scott Marosek , Piano
Methodist University-Reeves Auditorium - Saturday, May 2, 2009 - 8pm

The FSO will conclude the season with a memorable concert featuring works:   Mozart's Overture to the Magic Flute, K.620 and Piano Concerto No. 10, Eb major, for two Pianos, K 365, as well as Shostakovich's powerful Fifth Symphony.
