INTERNATIONAL ACCLAIM FOR FAYETTEVILLE SYMPHONY CONDUCTOR, FOUAD FAKHOURI Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra conductor, Fouad Fakhouri, was recently in Jordan
conducting the Amman Symphony Orchestra in a concert performance of Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Symphony No.8 and Mozart’s first flute concerto featuring the renowned flute soloist Ines Abdel Daiem. The concert performance was held in the Amman Symphony Orchestra new performance hall. The Amman Symphony Orchestra is a 65-member orchestra.
In June (June 19, 2007) Maestro Fakhouri was invited to London, UK to attend a performance by the London Chamber Orchestra of his composition “Pour Un Roi”. conducted by Clark Rundell.
The concert was a private concert attended by British and foreign dignitaries and ambassadors. Also amongst the many attendees was the world famous British composer Sir Peter Maxwell Davies who also had one of his pieces performed on the same program.
The concert was held at Plaisters’ Hall in London. The purpose of this particular performance was the promotion of the actual launch of a series of concerts in the summer of 2008. This series of concerts will be performed in London and then taken around to different European capitals. The concerts will be performed by some of the best ensembles and orchestras in Europe.
“Pour Un Roi” has been performed by a number of orchestras. In October 2002, Fakhouri was invited to Palermo, Italy to attend a performance of the piece at the historic “Teatro Politeama Garibaldi”. It was performed by the Mediterranean Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Gaetano Colajanni. At the end of 2003 Fakhouri also traveled to Sophia, Bulgaria and conducted the work with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra.
Maestro Fakhouri is currently composing and orchestrating his new work “Heron” which will be premiered by the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra this upcoming season.
