Dear FSO
Patron/Supporter,
Welcome to the 52nd season
of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and the fifth year of
direction by Fouad Fakhouri, our Conductor and Music Director.
Each season since Fouad’s arrival, we
have enjoyed enhanced and expanded programming. We offer our
audiences a variety of musical selections, from the moving works of
the Masters to modern compositions of our own Fakhouri. Our
theme for this year is: A Tour Around the World.
It will feature distinguished guest soloists and a diverse
selection of music with international origins.
The FSO is a vital member of this
community contributing to our economy, enhancing the education of our
youth and supporting the work of numerous service organizations. We
provide contracts for more than 80 musicians in Cumberland and
neighboring counties. Their work with us enables them to live in our
community, teach music in our schools and universities, and offer
private music lessons and performances.
In addition to entertaining audiences
at our season concerts, the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra also
performs free public concerts at Festival Park and chamber concerts
in a variety of smaller venues providing an opportunity for many to
experience a live orchestral performance. We partner with our local
library to offer concert previews and lectures; and a newly expanded
educational services department will grow our established elementary
student program to reach K-12 students in public and private schools
throughout the county and Ft. Bragg. Recently the Fayetteville
Symphony Orchestra was honored to accompany the BRAC Regional Task
Force to Ft. McPherson to showcase attributes of Cumberland County
to families preparing to relocate to our community. Elsewhere in this
booklet, you can read more about other programs and services to our
community outside of the concert hall.
A thriving Symphony is a critical
component of our community’s image and the quality of life for all
of us. When you consider the excellence of our orchestra, our
extensive outreach in the community and the economic benefit we
provide to the region, I am sure you will agree that we are an
invaluable component of the greater Fayetteville and Cumberland
County region.
I thank you for your past support and
ask you as individual and corporate members of the community to
continue supporting our Orchestra. Your purchase of tickets along
with additional contributions allows us to continue our service to
the community and for that we are grateful. Thanks also to my
fellow board members. You make it all possible.
Enjoy the concerts!
Les Griffin
President of the Board
