FSO Cumberland County School Visits

and “Peter and the Wolf” Performance

Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra

The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra successfully conducted its annual interactive school visits to eight select Cumberland County Elementary Schools this year on January 22-24, 2008, funded by the Yanoff Arts Initiative of the Cumberland County Education Foundation.  FSO musicians presented to approximately 50 students per school visited (8x50=400). The alert and informed 3rd grade classes were engaged in preparation of the educational "Peter and the Wolf" concert at the Crown Theater on Friday, February 1, 2008.The annual interactive classroom visits reach out to Cumberland County Schools to bring the lessons learned in music class to life - letting students experience the instruments with all of their senses. This program reinforces what the students have learned about "Peter and the Wolf" in music class before they attend the educational concert on February 1, 2008.

WHO

Three FSO Musicians (Deanne Renshaw - Oboe /The Grace Butler Keith Chair/; Zack May - Cello; Yemi Clinton - Flute; Paul Kirkpatrick - Cello alternate) presented at each school.
