The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra (FSO) concludes their 2008-2009 Season with a memorable concert featuring
Mozart's “Piano Concerto for Two Pianos” and Shostakovich's “Symphony No. 5” on
Saturday, May 2, at 8pm at Methodist University's Reeves Auditorium. This
performance will feature Guest Piano Soloists Dr. Howard Kim and Dr. Scott
Marosek and is a Sanctioned Event of the 2009 Dogwood Festival. A Chocolate
Reception will immediately follow this not-to-be-missed season finale
event.
The real star of the show will be an Italian
Fazioli Piano on loan from Ruggero Piano in Raleigh. This piano is known for
it's rarity, power, and laser-like clarity and retails for an estimated
$165,000. Only 110 Fazioli Pianos are produced each year in Sacile, Italy
(northeast of Venice) and less than 2,000 have ever been produced. Musicians
that are avid fans of Fazioli include Herbie Hancock and Angie Hewitt; the
latter of whom was the last to play the 1-year-old piano that will be in use by
FSO. Ruggero Piano is proud to be one of seven dealers in the United States to
carry the Fazioli Pianos and also has the highest collection of pianos in North
Carolina for all levels of play. Richard Ruggero, Owner of Ruggero Piano, will
be in attendance for the concert and reception afterwards for anyone interested
in learning more about this exquisite instrument. For further info, call the FSO Offices at 910.433.4690.
