Italian Favorites

 FRI, OCTOBER 23, 2009 • 8:00PM
 Reeves Auditorium, Methodist University
The FSO commemorates the 200th birthday anniversary of the great composer Felix Mendelssohn with a performace of his brilliant “Italian” Symphony. This concert will also feature the overture to Rossini’s delightful opera “The Barber of Seville” and a solo performance by FSO cellist Jian Ding.
 

Dance Spectacular

 SAT, NOVEMBER 21, 2009 • 8:00PM
 Seabrook Auditorium, Fayetteville State University
 Maestro Fakhouri will premiere his new work “Tito” inspired by Tito Puente the “King of Latin Music”. The performance will also include dances from Estancia composed by one of Argentine’s greatest composers, Alberto Ginastera, and conclude with Rachmaninov’s brilliant “Symphonic Dances”.
 

Stravinsky’s “Firebird” and Still’s “Afro-American Symphony”

 SAT, FEBRUARY 6, 2010 • 8:00PM
 Seabrook Auditorium, Fayetteville State University
FSO celebrates Black History Month with a performance of William Grant Still’s first Symphony (known as Afro-American Symphony). The program will also feature the suite from Stravinsky’s “Firebird” Ballet.
 

Classical Masterpieces

 SAT, MARCH 13, 2010 • 8:00PM
 Reeves Auditorium, Methodist University
Among the highlights of this concert are Beethoven’s powerful Symphony No. 4 and Vivaldi’s flashy concerto for two trumpets featuring the FSO’s own Dr. Timothy Altman and Dr. Larry Wells.
 

Pictures at an Exhibition

 SAT, MAY 1, 2010 • 8:00PM
 Reeves Auditorium, Methodist University
This season finale will be a memorable one! The FSO will perform Mussorgsky’s great masterpiece, “Pictures at an Exhibition”. This piece, brilliantly orchestrated by French composer Maurice Ravel, will be coupled with other exciting pieces showcasing the vast talent of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra.
