New in 2027: Carnegie Hall Link Up

Every year FSO musicians visit select elementary schools in Cumberland County Schools (CCS) to give fifth grade students engaging presentations and informative Q&A sessions supplementing the music teachers’ own work with a curriculum designed by Carnegie Hall to make students active music-makers by singing, dancing, or playing instruments together. This curriculum prepares the students for an interactive performance from the Symphony in the spring each school year, where the orchestra will perform the songs students have been learning in class. Students are encouraged to join in the performance as they did in the classroom before. This concert is often the first introduction for these students to a live symphonic concert experience. High School Musician Mentoring

FSO professional musicians are available to visit middle schools and high schools to help mentor music students of Cumberland County.  This program offers the students the opportunity to learn more detailed performance techniques of their instrument and the chance to learn from some of the top performing musicians of North Carolina.
