Levi Cull – Percussion

Levi joined the FSO in 2015 and is a section percussionist and assistant timpanist. In addition to being a member of the FSO Levi is a percussionist with the US Air Force Heritage of America Band. In addition to his rigorous touring and performing schedule in the USAF HOB he also performs throughout the east coast with many different symphony orchestras. Levi holds a Master’s of Music Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of South Carolina as well as a Music Education Degree from Kennesaw State University (Magna Cum Laude). He is a student of John Lawless, Dr. Scott Herring, and Timothy Adams Jr. He feels equally at home performing in a symphony orchestra, playing drum set in a jazz combo, playing congas in a salsa band, or anything in between. This has allowed him to perform in numerous locations throughout the world including a three-concert tour of Beijing and Xi’an China as well as performing on stage with the classic rock band Kansas at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Levi has performed/participated in master classes with Mathew Duvall, Neil Grover, Tom Freer, Jim Atwood, Carol Stumpf, William James, as well as Mark Yancich. He has also taken lessons with Eric Shin, Jauvon Gilliam, Peter Kogan, and Christopher Allen. An avid supporter of solo literature, Levi was chosen as the winner of the University of South Carolina’s Concerto and Aria Competition and performed Michael Daugherty’s work Raise the Roof for Timpani and Orchestra in 2015.

The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1956 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and is a professional, regional orchestra whose mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire the citizens of the Fayetteville, North Carolina region as the leading musical resource. Praised for its artistic excellence, the Symphony leads in the cultural and educational landscape for Fayetteville and the southeastern North Carolina region.

The Fayetteville Symphony typically performs 8 concerts during any given season performing both at Methodist University and Fayetteville State University. Partnerships with other agencies include collaborative performances with Cape Fear Regional Theatre, chamber concerts at St. John’s Episcopal Church, as well as the city’s annual Independence concert with fireworks. The Symphony brings music to the schools and the community by performing educational concerts, as well as having its own Fayetteville Symphony Youth Orchestra, after school strings and summer music camps.
